Norfolk Wedding Part 1
We love weddings! There is nothing better than seeing two people share their big day with their friends and family. We’ve hosted and catered for intimate weddings as well as large all singing and all dancing parties that take up to a week to set up. The beauty of weddings is that they are so personal, so for us, each one is completely different.
One of our favourite weddings to date was 'The Norfolk Wedding'. The bride and groom to be, Ella and Simon, had come to us with a mighty challenge. Along with the bride-to-be’s creative parents Paul and Sara Gaye Fletcher, the wedding was to be hosted at the family home in Norfolk. Together we mapped out the wedding and the flow of the day while actually on site.
The menu was a lot of fun to devise. Like the couple, we also like to use local suppliers. The lovely crab, all 14kg of it, along with the clams came from Norfolk local Gurney Fish Shop. Some of the meat came from a fantastic proper butcher, Arthur Howell, both just ten minutes from the wedding. Ashley served Gurney’s crab with chilli & green apple, the clams in bacon risotto and braised Norfolk lamb followed by chocolate, prune & Amaretti mousse, late summer trifle and berries, sour cream & shortbread.
What can we say? It was one of our favourite menus.
